Weather Update

UPDATE: 21/01/2013: Due to icy playgrounds we would like to give you the option to collect children from school early if your wish.  You may collect your children any time from 2:30pm to ease congestion in the playground, on the pavements and the roads surrounding the school. Junior siblings can also be collected from this time.

  • Year R & 1, please collect children from the classroom doors.

  • Year 2 parents, please come to the school office.

FOOTBALL & POMPOM STARS: No after school clubs will run this evening.

Please send children in sensible outdoor clothing and footwear.  In addition, please provide a change of clothes if possible.

UPDATE: 17/01/2013: As you may be aware, the Met Office is forecasting severe weather for our area tomorrow. We are currently preparing our contingency plans but you need to be prepared for the school not to open in the morning and for the possibility that if it does open, we may have to close early, depending on the time the snow arrives and how heavy it gets.

Please make some childcare arrangements so that if school closes early due to deteriorating weather you have plans in place.

The current forecast has some snow predicted for the coming weeks.

We would like to remind parents what to do in the event of heavy snow fall.

A decision will be made by 6:30am by headteachers, governors and in conjunction with other schools in the Upper Shirley Multi-Academy Trust

When the weather is hazardous and the school is open it is for you as a parent to decide whether you feel it is safe for your child to make the journey to school.

With such unpredictable conditions at this time we would advise parents to do the following to find out if school is open;

  • Check the Southampton website
  • Look at the school website
  • Ensure your correct mobile number has been handed to school as we will use our text messaging service
  • Text other parents you know at our cluster schools to spread the message
  • If school is open please send your child with a packed lunch because we cannot guarantee our lunch deliveries
  • If school is open please ensure your child has suitable outdoor clothing and footwear
  • (Please be aware that radio Solent will no longer be announcing school closures)

We will continue to work together as schools to serve our community as best we can.  Thank you for your patience and support.
