Christmas at SIS

Once again, Christmas at Shirley Infant School was a very busy, but very enjoyable time.

Thank you to all parents and children who contributed to our fundraising for charity this Christmas.

Our nativity at the church, Children of the World was an absolute success and enjoyed by children, parents and staff alike.  A big thank you to Nita Hearne and Miranda Clark for all of their hard work bringing the performance together.

The retiring collection from the performance raised £237.51, which was divided between St James Church and the Southampton Toy Appeal.

On Thursday 18th December the children received a surprise visitor.  Father Christmas called in and even treated the children to a carol played on the piano.  He brought some presents for each of the classes for the children to share.

On the same day as Father Christmas visited we also had our Christmas Dinner and Christmas Jumper Day.

Christmas Jumpers were worn by staff and children alike and we raised a total of £117.76 for Save the Children.

Donations for the DVD and photos from the Nativity raised £390.30.  Year 2 have chosen to use this to buy small world people to aid in story development.  The people will be used to help the children to act out their stories before they put pen to paper to write their creative stories.  This is a focus on the school's development plan and will aid all children currently in the school when they reach Year 2.

Thank you to everyone who took part and contributed.
