Admissions & Attendance Officer
We have put together some information that we hope will help you to help us.
OFFICE OPENING HOURS: The school office is open to parents from 8:30am to 4:00pm every school day. Please ensure that you visit the office for general enquiries at the following times;
8:30 to 9:30am & 2:30 to 4:00pm
PAYMENTS: Payments can be made by cash or cheque made payable to Shirley Infant School. Please ensure that any payments are sent to the office in a sealed envelope clearly marked with your child's name.
SCHOOL MEALS: All infant age children are entitled to free school meals as part of a government initiative. There is no need to order meals in advance, your child simply chooses between the meat or vegetarian options in class with the teacher each morning.
REPORTING ABSENCE: If your child is going to be absent from school without prior authorisation, it is very important that the school is notified by 9:15am. Any absence without reason will be marked as un-authorised. Please telephone the school on 023 8077 5057 or e-mail Emma on firstname.lastname@example.org.
LEAVE OF ABSENCE: Any requests for leave of absence should be given 3 weeks prior to the date required. There is no entitlement for any family holidays or leave of absence during term time. Requests for holiday will only be considered in exceptional circumstances.
ATTENDANCE: The school strives to achieve 100% attendance. To help us to achieve this as a school, we would ask that you please be aware of the following points;
- We can administer medicines in school for your child. We ask that you bring the medicine into the office in the morning, where we will ask you to complete a medical form detailing your instructions for the administration of the medicine.
- All children have times when they are feeling a little tired. This should not be a reason for them not coming into school.
- If your child has suffered from sickness or diarrhea, the child should not attend school for 48 hours from the last bout of illness. This is recommended to limit the spread of such infections. However, we do understand that sometimes children are sick without contracting an infection and in these cases we would trust our parents judgement on whether their child is ready to return to school.
