School Council

School Council

The School Council's main actions for this academic year are:

  • Active Listening whole school focus
  • Identify areas of the school environment that they would like to improve
  • Collect their peers views on school timetables, environment and curriculum
  • Review last year's SEF and update to support leadership decisions

See what our children think of their school through their eyes by reading their 2024 to 2025 School Self-Evaluation.  This is led each year by the school council reps collecting their class's views and feeding them back to create their own SEF.  From this the council then write their action plan for the year.

2024/25 Children's School Self Evaluation (SEF)

The key focus for this year's school council is to improve the role-play areas across the school to support cooperative play and their language and communication skills.  They will be supporting the Eco-Council with the redevelopment of the pond.  They will be supporting the school in attaining the gold award for the Local Authority Southampton Reading Challenge.

Last year the School Council worked hard on planning our new playground markings.  We talked with the school council at the beginning of the year about what they felt needed to be improved in the school.  They felt the playground needed to look nicer and more welcoming.  They wanted it to help them improve their co-operation and kindness skills with each other.  We have been looking at how to keep ourselves safe but persevere with new risks too.

The school council were instrumental in planning the markings for our playground.  They thought carefully about what they could be and what skills they would help or challenge their friends.

ECO COUNCIL

We are also very proud of our deputy school council members. They are our eco warriors, and they work on improving our reduce, reuse and recycle systems so that we do our part to keep our planet healthy!

The Eco School Council's main actions for this academic year are:

  • Enhancing our environment in the school grounds - key focus on the pond area
  • Reducing pollution around the school gates - working with the site team litter picking and monitoring our wildlife on and around the school grounds
  • Focusing on the school achieving their Silver travel award
  • Enabling the school to retain it's High 5 Gold Award
