Geography – Comparing Shirley and Leap beach
During Summer 1 we had the incredible experience of having 2 trips in 1 week! We compared our local environment (Shirley) to the New Forest and Lepe Beach, we looked at the physical and human features at both of these locations. We also were fortunate to see so much wildlife and were so lucky with the weather too!
We designed and wrote some persuasive leaflets to tell people why they should come and visit Hampshire and, for the first time, our parents were able to come into the classroom to see them on display! What a delight!
On the last Friday of term the whole school celebrated the Platinum Jubilee – we had cakes, sandwiches, bouncy castles and games galore! We made crowns, designed dresses and learned some drumming.
Pupil Premium Provision:
Children to walk around Shirley with the School Geography leader prior to the walk with the rest of the class. (Pre visit) On the class walk, they then become the tour guides or 'mini experts' and can use the knowledge from the pre visit to share with the rest of their peers. Key vocabulary word mats to be sent home.
